THE REASON TO CARE
Sunderland: a city on your side
Sunderland’s official supporter features connect the club’s European past with the hopes of a new generation. Your starting competition and squad will depend on the released FM27 database; this idea does not assume a relegation or promotion task.
Your opening moves
- Read the actual opening situation and pick the next milestone: stability, qualification, or progressing in Europe.
- Build around a young core but keep enough experienced cover to handle the schedule. Do not confuse a promising squad with a complete one.
- Develop one recognisable strength, such as pressing or transitions, then use recruitment to fix the weak links around it.
Give the save its own rules.
- Keep at least one club-trained player in each matchday squad when available.
- Sign a maximum of two players aged over 28 each season.
- Record your annual wage commitment before and after every window.
A career worth following
- First season: improve your competitive baseline without an unsustainable wage jump.
- Next: establish regular European qualification.
- Finish: win a European trophy with a player who came through your academy.
The trap to avoid
European qualification can inflate expectations faster than the squad improves. Budget for depth, not just a stronger starting XI.
Check before you start
Confirm the club’s division, player availability, finances, competition rules, and database version. Keep an untouched opening save. If your database differs from the premise, adapt the challenge and record the change rather than quietly editing the game world.
