THE REASON TO CARE
Santos: the weight of the shirt
Santos’ club history celebrates the Libertadores wins of 1962 and 1963, and the 2011 triumph. Those eras provide the inspiration. Your challenge is to create a new attacking generation rather than promise that the next academy intake will produce another Pelé or Neymar.
Your opening moves
- Check the starting division, competition calendar, and squad obligations before setting your first milestone. A famous history does not tell you the current financial position.
- Choose two or three prospects for real first-team responsibility and recruit experienced support around them.
- Control workloads across the competitions in your save. Keep a development plan that survives fixture congestion and injuries.
Give the save its own rules.
- Give at least two club-trained players regular senior minutes when suitable players are available.
- Reinvest a share of major sales in developing the next first-team generation.
- Do not use the editor to manufacture a wonderkid or keep one against the game’s transfer process.
A career worth following
- First: establish a stable team with a genuine youth pathway.
- Next: win the Brazilian league or qualify for the Libertadores, according to your opening situation.
- Finish: win the Libertadores with an academy-developed attacking star leading the team.
The trap to avoid
Expecting every prospect to become a legend can waste careers. Judge a player’s real progress and role, not the names once printed on the shirt.
Check before you start
Confirm the club’s division, player availability, finances, competition rules, and database version. Keep an untouched opening save. If your database differs from the premise, adapt the challenge and record the change rather than quietly editing the game world.
