THE REASON TO CARE
Orlando City: the florida challenge
MLS announced Antoine Griezmann’s arrival at Orlando in July 2026. Messi’s Inter Miami contract runs through 2028. That creates the real-world basis for a Florida star rivalry; player availability, the exact calendar, and roster implementation still need checking in your FM27 setup.
Your opening moves
- Find Griezmann’s most useful role from his actual in-game profile, then give him runners and reliable defensive coverage rather than asking him to solve every phase.
- Audit roster slots and the budget rules before making offers. One unsuitable contract can limit the rest of your recruitment.
- Build an away-game plan as well as a home attacking identity. A rivalry victory is more valuable when the whole season keeps you in the title race.
Give the save its own rules.
- Keep Griezmann for the first full season if his contract and availability allow it.
- No editor bypasses for roster restrictions or player registrations.
- Track the Miami rivalry separately from your league and playoff objectives.
A career worth following
- First: reach the playoffs and win a scheduled competitive meeting with Miami.
- Next: finish above Miami in the regular-season standings.
- Finish: win MLS Cup with Griezmann as a central figure, then develop his successor.
The trap to avoid
A superstar rivalry can distract from squad balance. The players around the headline name still have to defend, run, and survive the calendar.
Check before you start
Confirm the club’s division, player availability, finances, competition rules, and database version. Keep an untouched opening save. If your database differs from the premise, adapt the challenge and record the change rather than quietly editing the game world.
