THE REASON TO CARE

Deportivo La Coruña: restore a champion

Deportivo won the Spanish league in 1999–2000. Use that achievement as inspiration for a new generation rather than an expectation of immediate success.

Your opening moves

  1. Check the starting division, club vision, and available funds in your chosen FM27 database. Set the next competitive milestone from there.
  2. Build a strong domestic core and use loans only where you cannot offer an academy player meaningful minutes.
  3. Choose a compact tactical identity that can evolve as your squad improves; avoid replacing the whole team after every promotion.

Give the save its own rules.

  • Keep one academy graduate in your first-choice XI whenever a suitable player is ready.
  • Limit permanent arrivals to four per season.
  • Do not increase your transfer budget through the editor.

A career worth following

  1. First phase: build a stable base in your starting division.
  2. Middle phase: establish the club in the top flight and qualify for Europe.
  3. End goal: win La Liga with a player you developed becoming a regular starter.

The trap to avoid

A historic badge does not guarantee the resources to match its past. Keep your wage planning tied to current revenue.

Check before you start

Confirm the club’s division, player availability, finances, competition rules, and database version. Keep an untouched opening save. If your database differs from the premise, adapt the challenge and record the change rather than quietly editing the game world.
